Shahbaz Sharif, a ‘Friend of the Establishment,’ has become the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
But it remains to be seen whether he will follow the dictates of the powerful Establishment or follow Nawaz Sharif’s narrative.
Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif‘s younger brother Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has been elected as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Celebrations of Shahbaz Sharif’s victory have started in Lahore.
Along with the distribution of sweets and exchange of greetings, fireworks and horse dance have also been arranged in Lahore to celebrate the election of Shahbaz Sharif as Prime Minister.
Many Pakistani analysts believe that the prime minister’s happiness is justified.
However, it should also be borne in mind that the prime minister’s responsibility is to address the severe “fault lines” which is not easy this time around.
Shahbaz Sharif, 71, is the leader of the Pakistan Muslim League.
He has also served as leader of the opposition in the National Assembly and Chief Minister of Punjab, the country’s largest province.
Several members of his family, including his son Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, brother Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and niece Maryam Nawaz, are in politics.
Opponents of hereditary politics are not looking favorably on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s efforts to make his son the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Some observers believe that after Shahbaz Sharif becomes the Prime Minister if his son Hamza Shahbaz Sharif also becomes the Chief Minister of Punjab, it will mean that the power will be entirely out of Nawaz Sharif’s house.
And it will not be easy for the Nawaz Sharif family to endure for long.
Shahbaz Sharif, A Good Administrator
Shahbaz Sharif has a reputation as a good administrator; he believes in hard work and has a record of avoiding confrontation.
According to analysts, Shahbaz Sharif has a reputation for setting goals and working hard to deliver practical results through the timely completion of development projects.
Will the hardline administrator of the province be able to run a broad-based government?
Shahbaz Sharif, who became the Prime Minister for the first time, used to work under the direct supervision of the administrative secretaries during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Punjab.
It will not be easy for them to ignore or bypass the cabinet ministers he will now face.
On the one hand, he will be under pressure to solve public problems. On the other hand, he will face strong opposition from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami says that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, such a broad-based government has been established.
Shahbaz Sharif will have to accommodate all and ensure that fair elections are held after the necessary reforms.
In the opinion of the senior journalist, Shahbaz Sharif will try to find a solution to political problems politically.
However, he said that it would not be easy for Shahbaz Sharif to meet the expectations of the allies on the issues of Missing Persons and FATA.
According to him, it is not yet clear how he will balance the PPP and MQM in Sindh or how much he will be able to use in the country’s security and foreign policy.
Will Shahbaz Sharif be able to overcome the economic crisis?
Mujeeb Shami says, “There is no doubt that Shahbaz Sharif is facing tough challenges, but we have seen in the past that he has experience improving such situations.
Earlier, his role in ending power outages and eradicating terrorism was significant.
Their performance was also better in speedy completion of CPEC projects and effective dengue eradication.
So it is to be hoped that they will succeed. “
According to some, the rupee has started appreciating, and stock exchanges have begun showing signs of improvement on the eve of Shahbaz Sharif becoming the Prime Minister.
This also means that the country’s business community has shown confidence in the Shahbaz government.
Ahmed Waleed, a senior journalist, said that when he was being made Punjab Chief Minister for the first time, his family members opposed him, saying that he was not qualified for the job.
But later, he dispelled this impression by using his iron will, and by doing a lot of development work, he increased the vote bank of PML-N.
Shahbaz Sharif, Establishment, Or Nawaz Sharif Supporter?
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, in response to a question, admits that Shahbaz Sharif can be called a ‘friend of the establishment.’
He said that Shahbaz Sharif was always in favor of keeping it with the Establishment.
He believes in working for economic betterment rather than political confusion and confrontation.
Mujeeb Shami believes that since this government has not been formed for a long time, it is unlikely that Shahbaz Sharif will find it difficult to go with either the Establishment or Nawaz Sharif.
“Now they have all experienced it. They have also seen the weaving of many wounds. Now is the time to move forward. I hope all parties will focus on the betterment of the country. “
Ahmed Waleed says that in the past, Shahbaz Sharif, along with Chaudhry Nisar, used to play the role of a bridge between PML-N and the Establishment.
In the past, he has persuaded the Establishment on the one hand and Nawaz Sharif on the other.
Ahmed Waleed believes that there were attempts by the Establishment to separate Shahbaz Sharif from Nawaz Sharif in the past. However, he did not leave his brother following the family tradition.
What Will Happen To Shahbaz Sharif’s Cases?
Shahbaz Sharif was charged in several cases, including corruption, money laundering, and the Model Town murder case.
He has also faced charges of disproportionate assets. In response to a question, Mujeeb Shami said that cases against politicians in developing countries are nothing new.
Many cases have been made out of political bias, obstinacy, and revenge.
Very few politicians will escape these cases. Many politicians were even charged with terrorism.
“I hope the courts will look into these cases impartially and meet the demands of justice. ”
